FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you have any questions at all, big or small feel free to contact me.
Which areas do you cover?
The priced packages generally include travelling expenses to anywhere within Sussex and most of Kent and Surrey. However, I am more than happy to travel further if travelling expenses are met by the client.
How can I make a booking and payment?
The first step is to check availability for you specified date. This can be done by completing the details on the contact page. You will initially receive a written quotation relating to your shoot assuming that the date is free. If you click to accept the quotation you will receive a contract to sign online and also a booking questionnaire to complete. Once your reservation fee is received you will receive an email confirming the booking. Payments can be received either via BACS or credit / debit card.
When do we discuss the details of the wedding or event photography?
Once you have booked your shoot we can discuss the details whenever you like. You will initially receive a booking questionnaire which you will need to complete and closer to the shoot date a timeline questionnaire. This last document then forms the basis for our next meeting which is typically in the form a video meeting.
How can we make the most of the photography on the day?
Once we have established the type of shots you would like and the surroundings we have to work with I produce a detailed ‘shot list’ which acts as my plan for the day.
How and when do I get my images after the event?
Usually images are provided through a bespoke password protected online gallery which will allow you to view, share and / or download (depending on package selected) all of the high-res images. This is usually around 4-8 weeks after the event but can be extended slightly during busy periods. You can also order any printed photographs or canvases via the online gallery and they will be despatched straight to you from the pro lab that prints and manufactures them. If you have ordered, or wish to order a photo book, you can highlight your favourite images on the online gallery. This will then allow me to design your photo book with your very best pictures. I can also supply your images to you on a high quality USB memory stick if you prefer.
How many images will I receive if I book a full day wedding package?
A full day shoot will yield approximately 700-1000 images. A typical event will generate 100+ images per hour. All images are fully edited and in high resolution without watermarks.
What happens if its raining?
Don’t worry! I like the challenge and every venue has options for great photography come rain or shine. I have a variety of lighting equipment (and large white umbrellas!) to cope with every situation and we can discuss a backup plan during the pre-event consultations.
What if I want you to stay longer than the agreed time on the day?
If you feel that you would like more of the late evening covered, additional attendance can be booked on an hourly basis.
Are you insured?
Yes, I have public liability, professional indemnity and photographic equipment insurance. All of my equipment is duplicated in case of a mechanical breakdown on the day (which has not happened to date!).
Who owns the images you produce?
Technically the copyright stays with John Scofield Photography however you are free to issue them to family and friends if they are not sold. Please make contact if you have a commercial request as every job is different.
Do you work alone?
Generally yes, but I shoot with 3 cameras on me at all times. This allows me to capture moments, near far and somewhere in-between at the drop of a hat! If you feel the need for a second photographer, for any reason, this can be arranged for an additional fee. I can also quote for and include a videographer in my packages if this is of interest to you. I do have admin and editing support which allows me to maintain excellent levels of customer support whilst reducing the time that clients wait to receive their edited images during really busy periods.
What happens if we change our wedding or event date?
If the date is available you will not incur any costs.
Are your prices negotiable?
I offer various packages at fixed prices however I sometimes offer ‘promo code’ discounts tied to certain advertisements or marketing. In order to obtain your discount you will need to provide the code via the contact page at the time of making your enquiry and prior to booking.
Can you design and make me a photo book?
I provide a full range of printed items including a fabulous range of photo books which I can design for you. Canvases, wall art and other printed material can be ordered direct from the online gallery once the photography is ready for you. The items are then despatched direct to you from the lab. They all make great gifts for family and friends and help re-live the special occasion for years to come.
What happens if you are ill on the special day?
It won’t stop me attending unless its very serious. I am able to call on other photographers in the event of such an issue arising and I am a member of a Local Photographer's SOS Group that was created in order to provide backup services should the need arise.
