For generations couples have favoured summer weddings in the hope of having beautiful sunshine all day long for their big day. However in recent years many quality venues are now completely set up to accommodate amazing weddings whatever the weather and whatever the time of year.
One such venue is the amazing Ravenswood in East Grinstead - my home from home! I shoot wonderful weddings there all year around and with the recent issues regarding Covid postponements many couples are now happy to secure a date outside of spring and summer just so they can get married at their dream venue.
If the truth be told I have shot more weddings in the rain throughout the spring and summer than the autumn and winter. There are many reasons to consider 'out of season weddings', firstly there can be savings on these dates from suppliers and venues but also from my point of view the light is less harsh, more flattering and the fact that it gets darker earlier allows for some great diverse photography using lighting in the evening as it may still be light in the summer as late as 9.30pm.
The purpose of this page is to simply highlight the fact that when you select the right venue, suppliers and photographer your autumn / winter wedding can still be everything you have ever dreamt of and it will often surpass your expectations photographically when compared to an uncomfortably hot summer wedding.
I have had the great pleasure of capturing weddings at The Ravenswood in every month of the year and I was the the very first photographer to obtain their prized Gold Status. Needless to say I know the venue and grounds like the back of my hand and I know what works at specific times of the year. The Ravenswood staff are totally amazing from initial contact and planning leading up to your big day right up to and including their attentiveness throughout your actual wedding.
One of my recent couples were even featured in Your Sussex Wedding Magazine and we got the front cover too - how nice is that!
